I was curious about the Ketchup idea. I also work with other affiliate networks and may receive compensation from some of the links on this site. More details here. Comments These are all fantastic ideas and I WILL be trying some of them out on my Camelbak bladders which are the newest model and taste heavily of plastic. Thanks, Ed.

Take about two liters of hot water in your hydration bladder and mix a bit of bleach with it.
A teaspoon of bleach should do the trick. Let this solution sit through the night for the best results. Then you can rinse the hydration bladder thoroughly. The plastic taste will be gone from your hydration bladder, but it may have a chemical aftertaste. You can follow the previous method to remove this aftertaste. Rub the hydration bladder gently till you have distributed the solution evenly to every part of it.
Now, you can leave it like that through the night and rinse thoroughly with some warm water. Every time you use it outdoors, clean the water bladder with warm water, drain it, and store it in a zip bag. Dark, moist, and warm environments enable bacterial growth and mold infestation. These days bladders have antimicrobial coatings inside.
So, to be on the safer side, you need to clean it often. After you finish that, you have to use a cleaning kit to clean the tube and bite valve. The best way to prevent mold is to store the hydration bladder correctly.
Dry it using a hanger before you put it back in the storage. Drop the denture cleaning tablets into the warm water in the bladder and let them work for about 15 minutes. Use the unflavored type unless you want your water to always have a minty taste. Allow the tablets to completely dissolve and penetrate the inner plastic completely before rinsing.
Sometimes, it calls for a strong measure especially when all other methods have failed. Fill the water bladder with water then add a cupful or teaspoon of bleach. Let the bleach sit for an hour or overnight. Thoroughly rinse with over four changes of warm water. To help get rid of the bleach flavor, we recommend following with lemon juice and baking soda.
This is one of the best ways to kill bacteria and fungus especially when they are visible. Finally, store the water bladder in the refrigerator to deter mold from forming.

New Camelbak, remove plastic taste? Thread starter AuroraProject Start date May 20, AuroraProject Headphoneus Supremus. Joined Jun 13, Posts 2, Likes Is there a fast way to remove the plastic taste from a new hydration bladder? I bought a new one today and need to use it tomorrow. With my old one the taste just went away over time, but I'd rather not taste plastic tomorrow, if at all possible.
