Why john exiled to patmos

The text of Revelation states that John was on Patmos, a Greek island where, according to most biblical historians, he was exiled as a result of. The Emperor Domitian reigned as Roman Emperor from 81 to 96 A.D. He likely banished John to the island of Patmos, in 95 A.D., with the hope that he would die on. John was on Patmos because he was being persecuted—he was in exile there, imprisoned on this island. Because he was preaching the Word of God.
